I solve problems and make things work better. My experience spans industries where complexity needs clarity and innovation drives impact. Whether developing scalable design systems or refining technology strategies, I focus on continuous improvement and delivering measurable results.
I thrive at the intersection of creative thinking and technical expertise, constantly exploring new ways to push boundaries. My work as CTO with inFormed allowed me to streamline processes and innovate in meaningful ways, but I’m ready for new challenges where I can elevate solutions, refine systems, and bring value through ongoing improvement.
Fueled by a passion for merging technology and creativity, I strive to create solutions that genuinely improve lives. My work is deeply rooted in empathy and a human-centered approach, ensuring that every design enhances user experience and decision-making.
At inFormed Consent, I'm handling our tech strategy as the CTO and Co-founder. I've been working on developing two patent families and setting up our technology from the ground up. Our goal is to transform the informed consent process in the medical field. We’ve created a digital solution that gives patients the information they need while also reducing risks for doctors. We launched the product about a year ago, and it's starting to make its mark in the market. My main work here is wrapping up, so I'm looking for the next project to dive into—maybe it’s yours!
At Playfair Data, I significantly contributed to the company's rapid growth, establishing it as the fastest-growing bootstrapped, independently owned data company in the Inc. 5000. I built and led the UX design team, creating multiple design systems and an analytics style guide product that generated significant revenue. I led data visualization projects in the automotive sector, developing custom Tableau dashboards and intuitive interfaces. I collaborated with engineers and product managers, using Figma for design consistency and innovation. Additionally, I developed new chart types and technical methods, enhancing market differentiation.
At FIVE, LLC, I served as the Director of UX from April 2019 to May 2020. I led projects using design thinking facilitation to solve complex client problems, developed and executed creative strategies that enhanced brand recognition and market presence, and managed large-scale projects from concept to completion. I also maintained strong client relationships, resulting in a 30% increase in repeat business.
At JP Creative Inc, I served as a Principal Consultant from September 2017 to May 2020. I designed and led user research initiatives, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, for various projects, including those for the Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City. I was hired by the Kansas City Public Library as a design thinking consultant to develop youth programming by incorporating youth voices. Additionally, I served as the product manager for Water.org during their partnership with IDEO to develop a mobile application concept, resulting in three engaging concepts for potential implementation.
At Hallmark Product Development from 2010 to 2017, I held several leadership roles, including Director of Creative Operations, Director of Product Development, and Innovation Manager. I partnered with external organizations like MIT Media Lab and IDEO to develop new product concepts and implemented robust design systems for multiple sub-brands, including Hallmark Home, Floor 9, and Easy, Tiger. I led market strategy initiatives, identified key consumer trends, and managed teams of up to 40 members. My work resulted in securing six patents and successfully pitching over 50 product concepts, generating over $15 million in sales.
Figma is my go-to for collaborative design work, allowing me to iterate quickly while staying organized. Its real-time collaboration features make it easy to work with teams across time zones and ensure everyone is on the same page, literally. I appreciate how Figma handles both high-fidelity UI designs and wireframes effortlessly, giving me the flexibility to adapt my approach depending on the project's needs. The built-in prototyping tools also help me convey ideas clearly without needing to leave the platform, making it an invaluable part of my design process.
ProtoPie has become an essential tool for crafting interactive prototypes that feel like real products. It allows me to visualize complex interactions and micro-animations without needing to dive into code. The precision with which I can fine-tune animations and transitions lets me communicate design intent more clearly, making it easier for both stakeholders and developers to understand the experience beyond static screens. ProtoPie helps bring the flow of my designs to life in a way that feels natural and intuitive.
Tableau has been instrumental in transforming complex data into actionable insights. I’ve used it to not only build dashboards that are both visually compelling and functional but also to tell stories with data that inspire change. Whether it’s diving deep into calculated fields or creating user-friendly experiences, Tableau allows me to strike that balance between technical power and simplicity. It’s a key part of how I help clients and teams see beyond the numbers to uncover opportunities.
VS Code is my Swiss Army knife for coding and development work. Its speed, flexibility, and extensive plugin ecosystem make it the perfect environment for everything from quick edits to more involved development tasks. Whether I'm working on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or even Python, VS Code gives me a clean, efficient workspace that I can fully customize. Plus, its Git integration makes version control seamless, which is a huge win for productivity.
GitHub is where collaboration and version control come together perfectly. Whether I’m working solo or with a team, I rely on GitHub for keeping track of code changes, managing repositories, and ensuring that everyone stays aligned on project goals. Its intuitive interface and robust feature set, from pull requests to issue tracking, make it an essential part of my workflow, especially when it comes to scaling projects and maintaining a clear development history.
